Description It is a necessity and an obligatory responsibility for Muslims to be proficient in reading the Qur’an, to understand it and to practise it. Not only does the content of the Qur’an guides people’s lives, but reading it can also calm the soul and is a form of worship. According to Ibn Khaldun in his book Muqaddimah, he stated that “The Qur’an needs to be learned and read by children at an early stage because reading the Qur’an will plant the seeds of faith in the children’s souls”. (Yusof Qaradhawi, 2010) asserted that one of the benefits of reading and memorising the Qur’an as a child is that it can straighten the tongue, read the letters accurately, and pronounce them according to the makhraj of the letters.
